Extended Holter Monitor
An Extended Holter monitor is a device used to record heart rhythms continuously over an extended period, usually 24 hours to two weeks. It helps detect irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) that may not appear during a regular ECG.
Patients wear the monitor on their chest with electrodes attached to their skin, while they go about their daily activities. The data is later analyzed by physicians to detect any abnormal heartbeats.
Mobile Cardiac Outpatient Telemetry (MCOT)
MCOT is an advanced, real-time heart monitoring system that records and transmits heart rhythm data to a monitoring center. It offers continuous monitoring, often for up to 30 days, allowing immediate detection of abnormal rhythms.
The patient wears sensors attached to their chest and carries a small transmitter. When irregular heart activity is detected, the data is automatically sent to a monitoring center, and physicians are alerted in real time.
Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR)
The Loop Recorder is a small device implanted under the skin near the chest, providing long-term heart monitoring for up to 3 years. It continuously records heart rhythms and can be triggered manually by the patient if they feel symptoms, or it can automatically detect irregular rhythms.
This device is ideal for patients who experience infrequent symptoms that are hard to capture with short-term monitoring.
